We started Norland International in July 1993 with big ambitions. Our goal was to be the complete source for small to medium-sized companies in the beverage industry. At that time, our specialty was specifically bottled water. Prior to inception, most of the bottled water plants were very large, highly capital-intensive, and located in large population areas.

Our vision was to develop equipment that would be suited for use in smaller-population areas, while providing the same high-quality end product as the “bigger players”. Our goal was to be the complete solution for equipment by providing virtually everything our customers would need to operate. Instead of a customer purchasing a treatment system from one source, a bottle filler from another, and a labeler from yet another (hoping and praying the equipment functioned properly), customers could come to us for all equipment needs to function harmoniously. By making our equipment easy to install and operate, we were able to reach customers in remote areas of the globe and built a solid international reputation for service. When any equipment service or assistance is needed, regardless of location, the customer makes one call and we provide immediate assistance.

When first exposed to the “craft” industry several years ago, we knew it was a match made in heaven. Our background is ideally suited to help craft brewers and distillers grow their strengths and reach their dreams. As we expanded the ABE Division into beer, spirits, and other beverages, we continued with the theme of being the single source supplier for all equipment and support needs. The product selections and diversity we have today is extensive but allows us to fully support customers moving into these beverage options. This diversity has allowed us to expand our current customers into new ventures of beverages, further expanding their sales and product lines.

Over the past 28 years of being in business, we have encountered several storms, the pandemic being the latest. Even though these are unprecedented times with unforeseen challenges, we are in a terrific position to continue to serve entrepreneurs with their beverage packaging needs for many years to come.

With the passing of the Safe Drinking Water Act in 1986, the bottled water industry flourished, and is the number one beverage around the world. It wasn’t easy getting there though. For the small to medium sized operator, finding the right equipment was challenging. There were many garage-made systems that sometimes worked at the start, but all too often, these small equipment manufacturers went out of business and left operators with no technical or mechanical support.

Much like the craft beer equipment expansion in the mid-2000’s, bottled water saw its quick rise in popularity with a vast number of manufacturers designing and selling equipment to entrepreneurs who didn’t feel they had time to research or investigate each manufacturer. And much like the craft beer industry, many of these manufacturers disappeared, leaving the industry in disarray as it fought to find reliable suppliers of parts and equipment know-how.

While many manufacturers may come and go, we have continued to expand our reach globally and pride ourselves with the highest level of customer support in all areas. By designing heavy-duty, quality equipment, Norland has developed a time-tested approach to assure we will continue to serve and grow with our customers into the future.

July of 2021 will mark our 28th year in business, and the future of Norland International and ABE Beverage Equipment is shining bright. We have survived the test of time by doing what we feel is right by our customers, our employees, and our company. We have been, and continue to be, a customer service first company that provides an excellent product and overall value.

We offer a wide range of products for several industries including bottled water, craft beer, craft spirits, cold brew coffee, cannabis, kombucha, and more. Having vast market and product diversity has allowed us and our customers to easily change direction as times change and new opportunities rise. Our immense diversification has driven us to be leaders in the industry, whereas competitors that have come and gone were followers.

You never know where the next opportunity may lie, or what turn the industry you are in may take. It is our diversity that gives our customers the confidence that we will be there when it happens, to continue to support them into the future, and to have the solution they are needing today and into tomorrow. Our plans moving forward are to continue along this diversity path of new and unique beverages and packaging technology around the globe.
